When baby is brand new they are confused about what/when daytime and nighttime means. Because of this they sleep their longer chunks during the day and take shorter naps at night. So you also have to do the same until baby figures things out.
Nobody told me this and didn’t come across it in my many pregnant google marathons. So in my sleepless new mom delirium I tried to figure out:
How do you quickly become partially nocturnal?
My answer:
With a good TV show.
For me good meant funny with high binge-ability. Cliff hanger endings were a plus. It also helps if it has a couple seasons or you will need to find a couple shows. (For me it was marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Russian Doll in case you are wondering)
Then I made one very important rule.
I can only watch it during my night shift
It worked perfectly! A couple nights in and I was actually looking forward to staying up. Especially if the night before ended with a juicy twist! It was also so hard to stop once he was passed out not to just watch one more.
Part of me kind of misses that time now that I have no time to watch TV. At the same time I am really liking being able to stay up all day without feeling like a zombie!
