Really I should call this distraction magic because we thought Roland was teething for like 2 months. Turns out he was just fussy or warm.
At one point when we thought it was teething I read to give them a wet or frozen washcloth.
That sounds like a good way to end up with a soggy baby. As soon as that thing starts thawing there is going to be an unhappy baby because they are in a damp onesie.
So I looked around Roland’s room for an alternative.
Bingo! Socks!
He had a bunch and you can cycle them in the freezer. They freeze quick too. We used frozen socks as a cure all. If he wasn’t wet, hungry or sleepy we just let him play (supervised) with a frozen sock and he was all better.
Looking back he wasn’t teething but the socks were a fun enough distraction that they really did the trick!
So if you have a fussy baby give it a shot. It is free and a great distraction.
