I was planning on trying to fit in something about my tree in last weeks post, but thought since I wasn’t planning on posting this week to sneak in a more personal post on my usual Thursday update!
From a very young age I have had a weird obsession with fake food. My mom tells stories of eating hundreds of fake sandwiches made in my little play kitchen. In collage it was pointed out to me that all of my projects end up being about food in some way. I didn’t even realize it until someone pointed it out. So once I graduated and was out on my own it only made sense that I would end up decorating my christmas tree with various food ornaments. Each year I buy a few new food themed ornaments to add to the tree.
This was my first tree! I had enough food ornaments to just cover the front of the tree. It was also my first tree out on my own in a small apartment so it was a smaller tree with less area to decorate. I really liked having this tree because it was small enough that nothing got lost in the sea of christmas.
This is last years tree! We upgraded our space and had more room for a bigger tree. And despite other people giving me more food to put on the tree I still only had enough to cover the front. Luckily I have plenty of ornaments my mom gave me from my childhood to fully cover the tree! It is like having 2 trees in one!
This year the food tree went up again in all it’s glory! I also couldn’t help but take a few more pictures of some of the crazy things on my tree. Here are a few.
If you are starting out, I would HIGHLY recommend picking a theme. You can do a certain color, or style, or type (like food!) It makes shopping for ornaments a treat and also gives your tree a nice cohesive look. Plus it is a fun conversation starter! (Who else has a cheeseburger at the top of their tree!?!?!)
