I have been hitting the ice cream pretty hard recently so I thought I would share a quick tip on how to not over do it, but also make it last.
Back in my calorie counting days I still wanted to eat ice cream but couldn’t really have much. When I put my sad portion in the bowl it just made me more sad. So I figured out a couple ways to trick myself into being okay with a smaller portion. It has stuck with me and now even when I am having ice cream just about every night it isn’t so bad. Plus since I am eating less I get another night or two out of it.
1. Eat it out of the container.
Yes you will need more self control but you avoid the whole tiny bowl of ice cream issue.
2. Mark on the container how far down you can eat.
You decide how much you can eat in a sitting. Usually it tells you how much of the container per serving. You can also just split it into thirds or fourths if you don’t care about the calories and just want to make it last.
3. Eat only to that line.
If you are like me you will eat as much as you can so you will end up with a perfectly flat portion of ice cream left.
4. Eat down to the next line if you really want to.
Really this way of eating ice cream is just a good way to check in and be more aware of how much you are eating and if you might want to stop. I have never regretted going for that second serving. Mostly because I love ice cream, but also because I was very aware of the decision I made.
That’s it! I hope this helps! Happy eating!
