My husband and I are in a functional yet overly wallpapered home. So fixer isn’t the right word, but there is a lot of work to do. The only room in the house that is done is my son Roland’s room. We wanted it done before he came so we had the motivation to get it done.
Now for the rest of the house. Every room needs new paint and since this house is bigger than our last our furniture doesn’t fill the space. So I have a lot of figuring out to do and probably some furniture to buy.
The minimalist in me doesn’t want to just start throwing things on the walls and buying new furniture. Although that would help with the echo empty sound. This is my chance to find my style and make the space feel like my own!
Boy is that a lot of work! There are a total of 8 rooms in this house. We have 1 done and I feel like I keep thinking of ways to add to it. The whole house is a bit overwhelming.
So I decided to start small and go room by room. The smallest room in the house is the master bathroom. We don’t really have a budget for remodeling anything so I am mostly focusing on cheaper updates, paint, new mirror, light fixtures and maybe something to give the room some style (not sure what that means for a bathroom yet.)
After the master bath my plan is to go room by room smallest to largest picking new paint and updates to make this house a little more homey. Art for the walls, plants, maybe repurpose some of my current decor in better ways.
I will keep this updated on how I figure out how to decorate my space, along with some before and afters. In the mean time I challenge you to look at a daunting project you may have on your plate. How can you break it up into smaller parts? Does it make it easier and maybe even a little fun?
