While Hippie types and myself have a couple things in common (yoga, some foods, recycling) anyone who knows me would never call me crunchy.
But because of some crunchyish friends they unintentionally won me over to team cloth diaper.
At first it was curiosity.
How does it work now? Since we are past the days of pins and rubber pants.
Then financially.
How much do I actually save?
Now after 6 months of it I feel like I have an informed opinion to share.
Cloth diapers do save you a lot of money.
All the stuff I read about it talked about how you only saved money after the first year because the upfront cost. Well, realistically you will register for them and get at least some of not all of what you need. For me, between my shower at work and my wonderful cousin seriously hooking me up I was set. So as soon as we started using them we saved money!
Cloth diapers are IMO way easier and functional better in lots of ways.
They snap and Velcro just as easy as any disposable. There Are so many options out there it is easy to find one that works for you.
No late night trips to get more diapers. Just quick last minute loads of laundry. Which if I am being honest I am already used to since I feel like I am always out of clean underwear.
We have also had more blowouts with the disposable diapers. For some reason cloth just keeps everything contained better. The one way they for sure come up short is holding pee. So we use overnight disposables for bedtime.
So if you were at all curious about cloth diapers I encourage you to go for it! You will be surprised how it isn’t actually that big of a deal.
